My Story

The 2023 TCS London Marathon was the biggest marathon ever staged anywhere in the world, with 48,599 participants taking on the traditional course from London’s Greenwich to The Mall.

In 2024 there will also be a duck - but not any old duck, THE Williams Duck.

Now as the more perceptive of you may have noticed, I’m a rubber duck! - So my “duck handler” will be carrying me on this challenge and they will be wearing a nice hot and sweaty Williams Duck costume... (Idiot!)

My "handler" has never run a marathon before, in fact the only thing he ever runs to is the biscuit tin. Quite frankly I think he is quacking mad and should engage his brain before speaking, especially after chats with Ollie at the SIA...

The promotional material says: "The TCS London Marathon is a celebration of fun, fundraising, fancy dress and amazing community spirit, and a triumph of positivity, inclusivity and togetherness." however, I also believe it to be the creator of much pain, soreness and agony!!

Please support a little duck (and his idiot handler) help me help the SIA establish the Frank Williams Academy.

Support the SIA Frank Williams Academy and change lives

A spinal cord injury is life-changing, but it needn’t be life-limiting. Frank Williams was paralysed in a car accident aged 44 but went on to become one of the most recognised and respected people in Formula 1.

Many others paralysed by spinal cord injury, don't get the chance to live a fulfilled life with hope, purpose and dignity. Frank knew that and supported the Spinal Injuries Association to change the situation. Quality spinal cord injury care, support and education helped Frank rebuild his life and The Frank Williams Academy is his legacy.

The Frank Williams Academy is a project pioneered by the Spinal Injuries Association and supported by Williams Racing. It hopes to honour Sir Frank’s legacy and his achievements while living with a spinal cord injury.

The goal is to raise £1.5m to launch and establish the Academy during its early years. This funding will be used to help educate and train those affected by spinal cord injuries and healthcare professionals to ensure safe, appropriate care is provided. Through research and development, the Academy intends to champion best practice, raise national standards and build an evidence base to influence long-term transformational change.
