The Yard is Edinburgh Airport's Charity of the Year 2019. The interns at Edinburgh Airport are raising as much as possible through a series of different activities and events taking place over the next ten weeks.

At the end of their internships, they will finish off their fundraising with a sponsored walk from The Yard's centre in Fife to their main centre in Edinburgh. The "Yard to Yard" walk will roughly be the equivalent of a walking marathon and will amount to walking 52,272 yards.

The Yard is an award-winning charity running adventure play services for disabled children, young people and their families in the east of Scotland. It offers disabled children and their siblings the chance to experience creative, adventurous indoor and outdoor play in a well supported environment. It provides a place of understanding without judgement and somewhere children and young people feel safe. The Yard is a vital lifeline for many families who attend.

Both The Yard and Edinburgh Airport strongly believe disabled children should be offered the same opportunities and support as their mainstream peers to allow them to develop, learn, build friendships and find their own limits.
