When LEJOG isn't really LEJOG but kind of is
Fundraising for Jane Tomlinson Appeal
Story
Thank you to everyone that has sponsored me in my previous events, because of you I've been able to donate over £20,000 (plus gift aid) to the Jane Tomlinson Appeal.
Jane's legacy continues to inspire many, and none more so than me. She showed that anything is possible if you just put your mind to it. Being a supporter of the Appeal has changed my life and I am proud to be a small part of the great work they do in supporting cancer and children's charities. This year they announced they have raised over £7million in total, and as a result have taken a new step to directly fund research into non-invasive cancer pain relief techniques.
They can only continue this work with our donations so I hope to part you with your hard earned cash. To entice you this year I am planning to run the equivalent distance of Lands End to John O'Groats (LEJOG) over 2015. This is subject to my health holding up, if it doesn't I'll be buying as many tins of baked beans as I can and a big bath!!
The stats:
As the crow flies LEJOG is 603miles. This equates to 12miles a week.
Except I've not been well enough to train barely at all so far this year, so I won't be starting properly until 1 March, which means I need to average a total of 14.5miles a week, *every* week for the whole year.
Such a commitment, over such a period of time, will be challenging for me. I hope you can support that as generously as you have in the past.
Some of the miles will be races, others will just be runs on my own (or contact me to do some miles with me!!). To count miles will be recorded on my Garmin and I'll post regularly updates on Twitter (@emilyjmacaulay), Facebook and on here you will be able to see (in the photos) my progress towards my goal.
