We are volunteers from different countries, currently living in Northern Ireland and taking part in European Voluntary Service. We are going to challenge ourselves and give up certain things we take for granted for one week (20th-26th of June).

Our challenge includes

• spending only £1 per a day 
• sleeping on the floor 
• using only basic hygiene products (no makeup etc.)
  

Why are we doing this? Few weeks ago we had a chance to go to a concert of the New Life Choir and heard stories of children of Uganda. We felt really inspired and decided to help to fundraise to support the work of Abaana. Money will be used for schools and educational resources.

Schools needing funding

Abaana has built 13 primary schools in Uganda, which are educating over 4,000 children. However, there are still many villages across Uganda that have no school or a very poor school structure with untrained teachers trying their best to educate the children with little or no resources.

Abaana is a Christian based charity which invests in Children in Africa, helping them to break the chains of poverty, through education. Most of their projects are in Uganda, working in 13 locations supporting the children and parents in these communities. They have been able to build 13 schools, support churches and sponsor over 1,500 children as well as continuing their work with children on the streets and other projects.
