Story

Our chosen charity this year is the Anthony Nolan Trust.

The Anthony Nolan Trust helps saves the lives of people with blood cancer. They match incredible individuals willing to donate their blood stem cells or bone marrow to people who desperately need lifesaving transplants from around the world.

Every 20 minutes, someone in the UK is told they have a blood cancer such as leukaemia. For many, a bone marrow or blood stem cell transplant is their only chance. They need cells from a healthy person – with the same tissue type – to replace and repair their own damaged cells. About 30% of people in need can find a suitable donor in their family. But the other 70% rely on a stranger to save their lives. Anthony Nolan helps that 70% find those precious matches

Please note that as we are taking part in a KM event, 70% of the funds we raise will be going to the Anthony Nolan Trust, whilst the remaining 30% goes to the Kent and Medway Charity Team to help stage the event and for its children’s road safety work.
