Half-marathon target guidance
Find out ways to help your runners raise more
£508 is the average amount raised by a half-marathon Fundraising Page.
This is an average across all half marathon events on JustGiving, so don’t panic if specific half marathons in your calendar differ. If they do, base your fundraisers’ targets on your own page averages from the previous year or a similar event (of course taking into account any costs involved) - and increase it!
Most charities tend to reduce their fundraisers’ targets if there is a registration fee for the event though.
If the event is one you’ve had runners for previously and you’re looking to increase your fundraisers’ targets, you could think about changing your ask in some way.
This year TRIBE Freedom Foundation added a new element to running the Hackney Half. Runners were challenged to beat their personal best on the day:
Generally, a tougher challenge encourages donors to give more generously.
Something else to consider is ring-fencing funds for a particular project or appeal. This way, you can have an overall target for your fundraisers to aim for. Being part of a team can also incentivise your fundraisers to raise more - we know that pages linked to a Campaign Page raise more. London marathon Fundraising Pages that were linked to Campaigns raised 25% more than those that weren’t.
Using a Campaign Page as an event landing page means you have a live totaliser showing the overall team target and the percentage raised so far. These also allow supporters to donate to the team rather than just an individual they know.
