Story
As many of you will know, my wonderful Mum was diagnosed with MS in her 30s. She had 3 young children to care for and a very busy life. Over the years she has tackled her illness with shere determination; dertermination not to let it get in her way or stop her doing anything. It's been inspiring to watch and makes me as her daughter incredibly proud.
Due to the complete numbness on her right side Mum finds walking and other day to day physical tasks which many of us take for granted, challenging. The left side is also deteriorating and to help with the ever constant neuropathic pain, she has recently started a daily course of drugs.
Mum has been able to access therapies like reflexology and physiotherapy at the Kent MS Therapy Centre which have helped enormously, especially in recent years. The support and advice the centre provides is essential and of great help to Mum and other MS sufferers. It enables those affected by MS to lead the best possible quality of life.
I am taking part in the Three Peaks Challenge (Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowden) with 5 brilliant friends. Our aim is to summit them all within 24 hours! The training has started in earnest and includes night walks, 5am starts and a lot of hill walking over many hours! This is going to be one of the toughest things I have done and it will test us all physically and mentally.
Thank you all so much for your words of encouragement, support and vital donations. It means a great deal and I know it will help me to hopefully reach the three peaks.
