We fund private mental health support to help those facing a Duchenne diagnosis

Story

Earlier this year Cormac, the son of our friend and training partner Gary Fegan,  was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.  This devastating disease means that Cormac will probably be using a wheel chair by the age of 10 and has a life expectancy in the 20s.   As with many diseases medical research is advancing quickly and there are leads that need funding. So we are raising money for Harrison's Fund which channels money into this badly needed research.

We've set ourselves a challenge to cycle as many laps as possible of Arthur's Seat in a continuous session on 26th and 27th of July.   The ultimate target is to ride 100 laps.   This would be about 330 miles and 9000m of ascent, more than the height of Everest.  For some of our group doing a lot less than this will be a real challenge.   Even the strongest may be unable to finish the full set.   But we'll give it our best shot because we all want to do something to help Cormac and all the other sufferers of this awful disease.   I'm sure you will all appreciate that this is no jolly with a bit of fundraising on the side.   The challenge will be physically and mentally demanding.   All you need to do is to dig deep into your pockets to donate as much as you can to match the scale of our challenge and the need for funds to advance the research effort.
