Story

My dad passed away on September 10th 2007 from cancer. This year will be 5 years since he passed away and I want to do a challenge to raise money for a cancer charity to remember him. That is why I have decided to start this challenge on the date my dad passed away and as it was the 10th of the month, I will be running 10 miles per day for 10 days. I will only be running once a day so each run must be 10 miles long and to make it harder I have set a time limit of 1 hour 20 minutes to complete each run. After retiring from football because of injuries to both knees, this is no walk in the park! Anyone who knows me will know that this challenge, with the injuries I've had, is definitely going to be pushing through a pain barrier, so all your support will go a long way in helping me reach my goal in the 10 days.

If you want to support me and you live local to Banbury, feel free to come along to see me run and cheer me on. From Monday to Friday (10th-14th & 17th-19th September) I will be running each 10 mile run around Spiceball Park starting at 9.30am at the main car park and finishing around 10.50am. On Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th I will be visiting family but I will log runs both days at the same start time of 9.30am. All runs will be logged and shared in my '100 in 10' group on facebook(link further down the page). Please come along, bring your friends and cheer me on every lap I run.

My dad was an inspirational man that fought cancer a few times in his life before it finally took his life. He always wanted the best from me, my brother and sister, and always pushed us to be the best we could possibly be in whatever we did. Even when we achieved, he always challenged us to go one step further and be better still, so this is why I'm challenging myself and pushing my body to the limit, to remember what he taught me and to thank him for making me as determined as I am, to never give up until I've completed what I set my mind to do! The biggest lesson he taught me was that nothing in life is impossible if you have the right drive, determination and you're willing to put the hard work in to make it happen. 5 years on and I'm always willing to put the hard work in and be determined enough to grit my teeth through the pain and drive my way to complete this challenge.

I would appreciate all your support no matter how great or small. If you can afford to donate just a little, every little helps Macmillan to make others lives more comfortable on a daily basis.

If you are on facebook, please come and support me each day by joining my group at http://www.facebook.com/groups/409106142483444/ where you can leave your messages of support, encouragement and even join in if you would like to run with me, wherever you are in the world.
