Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my fundraising page. The last couple of years have been amazing in terms of achieving things I never thought I could! I started my fundraising journey in 2017 and have raised over £13,500 in support of the MND Association in the last couple of years. Everything I do now is in memory of my beloved mum, who sadly lost her fight with MND in 2008. There is no day that I don't think of her and all the other families still going through the same challenges we did. Every pound donated will help to support the wonderful work of the MND Association for people living with Motor Neurone Disease. I am just so immensely grateful for all your generous contributions, overwhelming kindness and tremendous support with my fundraising.

However there is "no finish line until there is a cure" and
I will therefore continue my running and fundraising journey in support of the MND Association. It will once again be an incredibly challenging year:

19th January – Holme Pierrepont 3h Endurance Challenge

24th March – London Landmarks Half Marathon

14th April (my birthday) – Brighton Marathon

26th May – Edinburgh Marathon

25th August (mum’s 50th birthday) – Big Steps of Hope Tribute WTDF

15th September – London to Brighton Cycling Challenge

22nd September – Sheffield 10K

29th September – Northampton Half Marathon

13th October – Royal Parks Half Marathon

20th October – Yorkshire 10 Mile

27th October – Swiss City Half Marathon

24th November – Doncaster 10K

8th December – MK Winter Half Marathon

But no matter how tough these runs may be, the challenges my mum faced living with MND were far greater – in February, she first struggled lifting her left arm, by April after many falls, she could no longer walk and her health further deteriorated rapidly in the months that followed. In November 2008, my mum passed away after her 9-month battle with MND. With every mile I cover running now, I think of her and all those affected by MND, and how the money raised as part of my challenge will help to bring us closer to find a cure. It has been my mum’s incredible strength and determination to continue fighting that has been my motivation to keep pushing myself, train harder and show my siblings that our shattering experience with MND can help to make a positive impact.

Not only will the funds raised as part of '100K For MNDA' help to ensure that people living with Motor Neurone Disease receive the right, high-quality care and support they need, but also fund ground-breaking research projects that will help to find new treatments and ultimately a cure for MND, so that one day many families will not have to go through the same challenges we did.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your fantastic support and generous contributions! Your donations truly mean the world and will help to make a difference to so many people affected by MND.
