Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

NACOA are a charity that are very close to my heart. During my first year of university I volunteered on their helpline. I worked alongside the team of volunteers there who are dedicated to providing support to those that need it. Unfortunately I wasn't able to continue volunteering as I moved away.

Last year, I sadly lost my mum due to issues with alcohol misuse. My mum struggled for many years with alcohol and it has had a massive impact on her family over the years. As a child there was very little support offered to those experiencing similiar issues as myself. As an adult, I am aware that there is still limited support available. That is why I believe that the work that NACOA does is so important. They give advice, support, and a listening ear to those affected by this terrible disease.

On the 1st of July, my dad and I will be completing the Cotswold Way Challenge. We will be walking 100km in an effort to raise money and awareness for NACOA. Any donations that you make will be extremely appreciated. Your money will help NACOA to provide support to those who are affected by a loved one's drinking.

The Cotswold Way Challenge is an event organised by Action Challenge. See the links below for more detail:

About the charity

1 in 5 children in the UK are affected by their parents' alcohol problems. They are often frightened and isolated, with no one to turn to for help. Nacoa responds by providing a free, confidential telephone, 1-2-1 chat and email helpline.
