Nicola's Story...

In November last year we found out that our son Ryley is anaphylactic to peanuts. We already knew he had multiple food allergies but this diagnosis really shook our world. To find out there is anything medically wrong with your child is heartbreaking, but also to find out it’s life threatening and that there is no current cure, that he will have this condition forever, it honestly broke me and is the hardest thing to date that I’ve had to encounter as a parent.  we had to quickly find a new safe way of living. We now carry adrenaline pens with us wherever we go and have to thoroughly check each and every food label, this has become our normal, but sometimes it can be overwhelming. 

Luckily I found the anaphylaxis campaign and they have been a wealth of knowledge for tips and advice and how to cope with living with anaphylaxis.  The work they do is just incredible and I would love to be able to give something back to them, especially since they are behind the research for immunotherapy. 

So I have teamed up with the 12 in 12 and asked if they would include the anaphylaxis campaign as one of their charities. April is our month, so my challenge for April Is that I am going to run 10k every day for 30 days. 

The Anaphylaxis Campaign is the only UK wide charity solely focused on supporting people at risk of severe allergic reactions.Anaphylaxis (pronounced ana-fill-ax-is) is a severe and life-threatening allergic reaction that can be fatal. Severe symptoms such as a swollen tongue, difficulty breathing or becoming unconscious usually develop suddenly, often within minutes after being exposed to an allergy trigger such as a particular food, latex, insect stings or certain drugs.
