The Chatterbox Project, Blackley is a Registered Charity, run by a team of local volunteers, providing community outreach in one of the country’s poorest areas.

Our vision is to change the way in which people in the area feel about themselves and where they live. Taking part in our activities programme helps people to increase levels of self-confidence, reduce personal isolation and improve overall community spirit; while encouraging them to care for each other and the local environment.
Like many charities we apply for various grants to fund various aspects of our work here. We have heard during the last few days that Chatterbox has been successful in obtaining a second major funding award from Reaching Communities at the Big Lottery Fund to cover the costs of running the project for the next three years – paying for things such as: hall hire/heating/lighting/phone/ water rates/salaries/other overheads and various consumable materials etc. The money cannot be used for anything else.
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for Chatterbox to buy the building we use for £72,500. (Typical price of a house here is £90,000) We raised just under £6,000, mainly from local residents and £264 during the past couple of weeks – for which we are truly grateful. THANK YOU EVERYONE!
Securing the building is essential for our on-going work
