Story

WHAT’S THE CRAIC?

In August 2021 our 11 year old daughter Tilly Mae was diagnosed with stage 1 cancer with a tumour on the brain.

She received treatment at the Royal Victoria Infirmary where they removed as much of the tumour as they safely could. The care she received was exceptional and the hospital was very child friendly.Tilly will remain under the care of the RVI for another ten years.

Seeing so many young children receiving treatment and care was a harrowing experience but you could also see the hope through all the anguish; Brave children who still laugh and joke despite what they are going through and the staff who work so hard to ensure they feel comfortable and have the best care whilst at the hospital and further support upon returning to their homes.

Why the Red Bull Soap Box Race -

Tilly loves watching the Red Bull Soap Box race and so what better way to raise money for the Great North Children’s Hospital than to enter the Red Bull Soap Box race!!!

Why the Great North Children’s Hospital?

Unfortunately, many seriously ill children from Cumbria require medical care; This care is often provided by the Great North Children’s Hospital which sits within the Royal Victoria Infirmary at Newcastle.

Every day, the staff work tirelessly to care and treat children who find themselves at the hospital due to terminal illness, as a result of an accident and everything in between.

The Foundation supports life changing research, cutting-edge equipment and technology and projects to make the hospital more welcoming for children.

Hospitals can be scary for adults let alone children. Your donations help fund research and equipment but it also funds the little things that make a big difference to the children including:

  • Toys
  • Playrooms/Chill-out areas
  • Enrichment activities
  • Murals
  • Clown Doctors
  • Music Lessons
