I have decided to take on a challenge of tackling 3 half marathons in 3 months.
I decided to do this to raise money for the ‘Mind’ charity. Mental illness is becoming more and more common in people my age, I have been there myself and it’s not a nice place to be.
As many of my friends know Joanne and I were very close and she had her problems with mental illness before she passed away, for those that didn’t know her she was a totally buzzing, happy, smiley lass, she never failed to put a smile on your face, that’s how she was. Even though she was going through her problems she put other people’s happiness first. She was the one that pulled me out of my depression and I will never forget that.
The reason I chose to do these runs is that most people with mental illness find the simplest task very difficult, like popping to the shops. So I chose something that I find difficult myself because as like a friend of mine told me the other day I’m ‘not built for distance’.
The marathons are as follows:
8th July - Ashbourne half marathon
12th August - Newark half marathon
30 September - Robin Hood half marathon
