Story

Day 100 Update: Final call for donations - we will keep open the fundraising page for another few weeks for anyone who didn't get a  chance to contribute so that you can make your donation. Please give as generously as you can. Together, we can ease the burden of COVID-19 for so many in need of support.

As we draw our SOSAD fundraiser to a close, a huge thank you to the 417 donors from home and abroad who donated a total of 27,616 which helped SOSAD Ireland to open their new Monaghan Town service in support of #mental-health and suicide prevention. We ran a total of 1,811km since Jan 1st and could not have done it without the practical support and encouragement of Aughnamullen GFC and our local community.

Particular thanks to the following local organisations and businesses who also gave generously - Aughnamullen Vintage Club, Aughnamullen GFC, Aughnamullen Céilí Club, Latton Céilí Club, Super Valu Castleblayney, Leonard Steel, Mulligan Transport, John Daly, Patsy Connolly Engineering, Shabra Plastics, Swift Fine Foods, Rangeland Foods, Lakeland Dairies, Philip Duffy Tyres, Lough Egish Landscaping, Sragh Dismantlers Ltd, Coyle’s Pharmacy Castleblayney and McChesney’s Opel.

In addition to the named and anonymous donors listed on our fundraising page, we wish to thank all those who sent donation cheques which have been sent to SOSAD and are included as offline donations in the total amount shown above that has been raised so far. Thank you - Tony, Ciarán & Breandan

Background

We are 3 brothers from Lough Egish in County Monaghan. My oldest brother Tony and I have both been affected in our lives by sight loss and we know that any experience of loss can adversely affect mental health. Third brother Ciarán has seen in his work at Maynooth University how mental health issues can impact student progress and the difference that timely support can make.

Right now, the demands on mental health support services are growing significantly during the COVID19 pandemic.

We ask for your support in our bid to run 1,000km before the end of February 2021 to raise awareness and much-needed funds for the impactful work of SOSAD Ireland.
