Story

My daughter Ariella is 4 years old and has a severe hearing loss. She has been attending The Elizabeth Foundation (TEF) one day a week this year and the results are already fantastic. The environment and level of care provided are perfect to help her develop and prepare for school next year. With their support we hope she will continue to develop her communication and enjoy her start to primary school alongside her big sisters. TEF welcomes children with or without an ehcp or any other education plan and it receives no statutory funding (see below) and hopefully fundraising for this challenge will help!

Sean Conway is an adventurer who seeks adventure in many different ways - he is embarking on a challenge this January 2021 that I am going to copy...

  • On the 1st of January I'll run 1km
  • On the 2nd 2km
  • On the 3rd run 3km and so on
  • Last day of January will be 31km
  • In total this will be 496km

For contrast in the entirety of 2020 I ran 760km with average length of 8km and less than 2 runs a week! Can't wait.

For almost 40 years, The Elizabeth Foundation (TEF) has been teaching deaf babies and preschool children to learn to listen and talk. Through a wide range of outstanding education and welfare services, they improve learning outcomes and social inclusion, setting high expectations for bright futures. The charity provides the practical support and guidance to families from the moment their child is diagnosed with any degree of hearing loss – often when a baby is a just a few weeks old. Families can attend specialist education sessions at the Family Centre in Portsmouth, or enrol for online learning. By providing early intervention to deaf and hearing impaired children, including those with additional disabilities and learning needs, TEF aims for children to leave them at age 5, ready and able to join school with confidence, alongside their hearing peers. The charity has no automatic entitlement to statutory funding so helping support Adam with his challenge will make a lasting and positive difference. All supporters are made welcome by the charity; if you would like more information or to visit the Family Centre to see the impact of your generosity, (once government restrictions have been lifted), please do contact them via their website: https://www.elizabeth-foundation.org/
