Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page- please help DAWGS by sponsoring our mountain adventures.

We've been lucky enough to share 12 years with our beloved collie cross Shade , who sadly died last autumn. He was a rescue dog who got a second chance so we'd like to help other rescue dogs get the same- the life and love they and every animal deserves. Shade travelled everywhere with us and especially loved long mountain walks, even bagging a few munros in his time- he was always the leader of the expedition. so we are walking some of his favourites and most challenging peaks to remember him- Ben Vrackie, Schiehallion, Ben Ghlas and Ben Nevis.

Shade was a very special and unique dog with an amazing story : he was found starving wandering on the streets of Midlothian and ended up in the council pound where he faced euthanasia. When Scott met Shade he knew instantly they were destined to be best friends. Shade had obviously had a tough start and had lots of problems but loads of TLC  helped him overcome the trauma of neglect and cruelty.

Shade went everywhere with us and probably saw more of Scotland than most people! He loved going on ferries and went to many islands in his time.

His adventurous lifestyle meant Shade had a few mishaps- including falling from a cliff and breaking both his front legs. Expert care, several operations and thousands of pounds later he was back to running like the wind on his 'bionic' legs. A few years later he would also face a similar tragedy when he had to have spinal surgery but once again he proved he had more lives than the proverbial cat.

Despite all this he went on to enjoy a many more adventures, walking munros, travelling in a canoe, and towards the end being cycled around in his wee bike  trailer "the collie trollie".

We are raising money for a local dog rescue and rehoming charity who do great work for dogs like Shade all of whom deserve a second chance -Dog Action Working Group Scotland. Please give what you can afford - every penny is appreciated.
