The 5 Peaks Challenge for Ashgate Hospice - To climb the highest peak in each of England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and Ireland within 48 hours (including all travelling, and without breaking national speed limits)

Commencing on the 1st of May, we will be looking to complete the challenge to raise money for Ashgate Hospice.

This event involves ascending and descending the following mountains:

• Ben Nevis (Scotland) – 1,345m (4,413ft)
• Scafell Pike (England) – 978m (3,209ft)
• Snowdon (Wales) – 1,085m (3,560ft)
• Slieve Donard (Northern Ireland) – 849m (2,785ft)
• Carrauntoohil (Ireland) – 1,038m (3,406ft)

A total ascent of 5,295m (17,373ft) and an estimated hiking distance of 40.1miles (64.6km) - This is clearly going to be an immense challenge of both body and mind!

All travel expenses are being covered by the team members, so anything donated will go directly to Ashgate Hospice.

Ashgate Hospice, based in Chesterfield (Derby, UK), provides specialist care to patients with life-limiting illnesses, free of charge, 24 hours a day and 7 days a week! They also extend their support to patients' families throughout tough times. Ashgate Hospice provide care both in the Hospice and to patients at home. There are 3,000 people locally (north Derbyshire) that need hospice support annually. Ashgate cares for 2,200 people every year. This means 800 people are not receiving their care at all. Any donations would go towards helping to change that.

Meeting our target of £2,500 could enable Ashgate Hospice to fund their Therapy team to deliver and install equipment in 65 patient's homes! - For more information on the amazing work they do, please visit: www.ashgatehospicecare.org.uk
