24 Hour Row - Irish Record Attempt · 20 October 2018

Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Well, at 11am on Saturday 20th October I’m going to start rowing, and I’m going to do that for 24 hours... simple! The aim is to beat the Irish 24 hour indoor rowing record and raise funds for my chosen charity, Parkinson's UK

It really needs to be said now, that the Irish 24-hour indoor rowing record has been broken since I
stupidly said I would do this. So, the goalposts have changed somewhat. It was 175,608m, but it is
now 211,705m.

So my sanity, there I have laid down some incremental goals that will provide degrees of success for
this challenge;

  • Don’t cry
  • Row 30min in every hour
  • Row 30min in every hour at 2.30 pace (144,000m)
  • Beat the previous Irish record (175,608m)
  • Beat the overall Irish record (211,705m)

Some might say this is making excuses or sandbagging, but this is all about sustaining motivation. If I
know I’m missing the overall goal at some point along the way, I want to insure I am still motivated to
keep going rather than feeling I am panning myself for absolutely no reason.

Please support my challenge by making a donation big or small. Your help really matters and will spur me on to completing my challenge.
