Story
In September 2007 my mum passed away after a very short battle with cancer. My Mum spent her last few weeks at The Christie Hospital in Manchester where they provided such a great level of support and care it allowed her some sense of comfort as she regularly called the nurses her angels. I could never thank The Christie enough for all the help they gave during those weeks, with this being only a small token of the great appreciation i have for them.
The Christie charity raises money for a range of projects and initiatives focusing on 4 main areas, research, care and treatment, education and extra patient services. All of which are above and beyond what the NHS provide enabling them to give patients the best care and treatment possible.
All your donations really do have an impact at The Christie. Without the support of fundraisers and everyone donating they would not be able to give patients and their families the level of care and support that they do.
From providing continuous funding for the Cancer Information Centre and Wig Service, helping patients and their families cope with the effects of treatment, to raising money for new developments such as the recently opened Teenage and Young Adult unit, your donations are having a positive impact every single day.
On April 23rd Myself and two friends are taking the Football Leagues challenge of visiting all 92 football league grounds, from Plymouth to Carlisle, in just 92 hours. It'll be a tough and tiring ask to make it on time but we're so excited to be doing our bit and helping such a fantastic charity. The actual route we're taking is still up in the air as we keep tweaking the way we want to go around. I'll keep this page updated and a twitter account closer to the time.
We're also asking each club we visit if they would kindly donate any form of memorabilia they could spare, with the hope that if we complete the set and have all 92 clubs the National Football Museum will display all the items we've collected and share our journey furthering our reach for support.
Thank you all so much for your help and support, it means a lot to me personally and to many, many more families around the UK.
