Story
When my daughter was 2 years old, she needed an urgent operation and was rushed in to Birmingham Children's Hospital. The care and attention that she was given was second to none and I cannot praise them enough. Shortly afterwards, I decided I wanted to put something back into the community, so I joined Lichfield Round Table and went on to become its chairman, then on to Area Chairman and now here I am as the National President. As Round Table is celebrating 92 years this year, I figured what better opportunity could there be to visit all 92 clubs in the football league and what better cause could there be than Birmingham Children's Hospital, who looked after my daughter all those years ago. It's a little-known fact that Birmingham Children's Hospital actually looks after more kids than Great Ormond Street, but simply doesn't have the same profile. That's despite looking after the likes of Nobel Peace Prize-winner Malala. So, if I can use my own network to help out such a great cause, it is just one way for me to say a massive thank-you to the hospital and hopefully raise its profile at the same time.
