Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This is a collection for the Marie Curie Hospice in Hampstead.

'Frankmum' Rosie Choueka has fought a strong fight against metastatic breast cancer, otherwise known as 'Ghengis' on her blog, and has shared her journey with us all. Now that she is on the final part of her journey and has a place at the Marie Curie Hospice in Hampstead, I would like us to be able to support her care and others also needing the hospice care.

Hospice care is a vital service for excellent end of life care, but also for respite care for those with ongoing life-limiting illnesses in order to help their families cope and have rest.

In the hospice Rosie will have the best care she could have, her family will be looked after in all of their needs through excellent pastoral support, and will be supported and assisted throughout the whole process which is to come.

As a Frankmum, as a nurse and as someone who has had personal dealings with the care that hospices provide I am continually stunned that their care isn't centrally funded. Their existence and everything they provide is based solely on charity funding and it costs £7767 per day to run the hospice.

Many people aren't as fortunate to get a place in a hospice as they are so few and far between due to the fact that money is scarce. It is my constant wish that hospice and quality end of life care is made more of a priority in this country but at present, and certainly in the current climate, I cannot see any change coming soon. People should have a right to comfortable, end of life care with pain relief on tap, and quality pastoral support for their families. But at the moment this is only possible if you are fortunate to be given one of the very few places in the limited number of hospices available.

Please please help if you can to help support Rosie in the final stage of her journey by giving toward the hospice's costs. It will also help all the others in the hospice as any funds are always needed to keep up the quality care they provide.
