Story
Aces player Charlotte Fox suffered muliple injuries when she was thrown from the back seat of a car after it veered across the M4 near Reading and struck a tree.
The severity of her injuries - which included fractured vertabrae, a fractured collar bone, two fractured ribs, a punctured lung and fractured lumbar - meant she had to be air-lifted by Thames Valley Air Ambulance to hospital in Slough. She was in intensive care for two days.
Charlotte's recovery from her physical injuries took many months but the after-effects remained with her for many years.
It was only earlier this year that she started to feel comfortable about talking openly about what happened and, in August, she went to Thames Valley Air Ambulance to meet one of the crew who rescued her.
She told the netball team about what happened - and the Aces squad decided to sign up to raise funds for the Thames Valley Air Ambulance by taking part in The Great Thatcham Santa Run, organised by Thatcham & District Rotary Club, on 18 December.
