About Relay for Life
Relay for Life is the world’s largest cancer fundraising event across the globe and between now and the end of October Airswift will be hosting various events (all of them active!) around the world for employee’s, contractors and clients to participate in.
Airswift Europe have been involved in this event for the past two years. We’ve loved climbing Snowdon and The Yorkshire 3 Peaks and now there is an appetite for something more challenging.
So, what can we do this time? Well, we’ve never attempted more than one thing, so why not two or three?
Introducing....The Airswift Triple Challenge Event
Our Manchester, London and Ducatus team will be taking on a one day mini triathlon known as the 3 W's in lovely Snowdonia on 21st September. The details are....
Water
We can get the guys and girls onto the water but in ways that you’d not expect. Having scoured the globe (ok, the North West of England!) for ideas, we managed to find 8 MAN PADDLEBOARDS
OMG, these bad boys are massive, well over ten feet long and as steerable as snooker table through sand. It’s going to be VERY interesting seeing our lot tackle that one – pictures WILL follow!
Walk
Something that we’ve always done and back to what we know best. In isolation, it’s a beauty of a hike, scenery is mind blowing and more importantly, it’s oh so quiet – my idea of heaven!
We’ve planned out a route on Moel Eilio that’s around 700m elevation and approx. 8 to 10 miles long
Wheels
Next, we plan to get off the beaten track and do something that most riders might not have a chance to do. That is, to explore on an old abandoned slate quarry, with its machinery and buildings still in place from the last day they were used. An excellent opportunity to test yourself on two wheels.
The route is like an industrial ghost town but on a gargantuan scale – if you’re a fan of Lord of the Rings, then think of biking through Mordor and you get the picture! It’s approx. 4 miles long and has a mixture of uphill through beautiful woodland pathways, rambling on the flat through, the old abandoned works and exhilarating downhills before we return on the flat back to the start. It’s a brilliant ride and pleasantly surprising, as you just don’t expect what you will see on the turn of every corner.
I’ve a feeling this year is going to be legendary?!
Mini Events
Alongside our main challenge, we have multiple mini events planned to go towards fundraising. These include office golf, table tennis, bake sales and quizzes
Our goal
We are doing this as one team with the aim of raising $20,000 towards our global target of $47,000
Help us reach our goal and support Cancer Research UK in the fantastic and innovative work that they do
With thanks to all involved for your support and blood, sweat and tears :-)
