We advocate for people with type 1 diabetes to ensure global access to #insulin4all.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My son was 24 when he was diagnosed as a  Type 1 diabetic, he did well for just over 2 years while he had insurance. June 1st 2017 my insurance could no longer cover him because  he aged out.  Without insurance his cost to receive his insulin and supplies per month were about $1300.

June 27th I received a call that my 26 year old son was found dead in his apartment, my son was trying to ration his insulin because the cost was so high.

My goal is to raise awareness about how this happens everyday to diabetics, they make choices to pay their bills or buy the medication that is necessary to stay alive. In this day in age nobody should be making those type of decisions, it shouldn't even be a choice.

Insulin should be affordable and accessible to all, no matter where they live and if they have insurance or not.

Diabetics do not choose to have this diagnosis, they do nothing to cause it and there is nothing to prevent it.

There should be no reason this lifesaving medication is so expensive, research shows the cost has risen over 300% over the past decade.
