Hi!

I'm Alex and I'm currently studying Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Warwick, after realising my potential in school and working to get here. However, not all children in the world get the same opportunities in life.

In Tanzania and other impoverished nations, schools often lack the resources and capacity to let students reach their ultimate goals, despite whatever potential they may have. Because of this, I am determined to help them to the best of my ability to succeed in academia and hopefully life.

Therefore, this summer I will be travelling to Mtwara, Tanzania to help out in schools there and pass on my maths-related knowledge and enthusiasm. By doing this, I hope to inspire the next generation and facilitate their learning.

The programme has been extremely effective in past years, having benefited 280,000 students in the past 10 years as well as 1,900 teachers; an astounding number in both cases. It has been reported that after a visit from Warwick volunteers, the average improvement has been 57%, the equivalent of an F grade student becoming an A grade student. This jump is phenomenal and shows just how much the children need our help.

So why do I need donations? The cost of travel, accommodation, food and all living costs are already covered by Warwick in Africa so 100% of the donations you give will go directly towards helping the children. A donation of £8 can cover the cost of a child in school for a whole month, so however much you can give, whether it's a lot or little, can make a huge impact on the lives of these kids. Just £25 can change the lives of 3 children forever, for little cost to yourself.
