I am running the London Landmarks Half Marathon for CAFOD and would be very grateful for any amount you feel able to sponsor me.

I feel very strongly that in any emergency situation, and as part of one of the largest aid networks in the world, CAFOD is there to help people affected by conflict, war and natural disasters, regardless of race, gender, religion or nationality.

When I opened this fund raising page, my primary thought was for the people in Afghanistan where CAFOD is working with local partners to provide food, access to clean drinking water (through the provision and installation of water tanks), shelter and hygiene kits to vulnerable families.  

However, since then, Russian armed forces have attacked Ukraine, and the rapid escalation of this war has resulted in thousands of people being killed and injured, with over two million fleeing their country.  CAFOD is now working in Ukraine with their partner agencies Caritas Ukraine and Caritas Spes, alongside Caritas agencies in countries neighbouring Ukraine, to help people who are affected by this conflict.  They are part of the communities they work with and understand people’s immediate needs.

It goes without saying that any aid that these people can be given at this impossible time is absolutely life saving.
