We provide support, services and advice to help autistic people and their families

Story

I have chosen to raise money for this charity as it provides information, support, helps autistic children and adults with social skills and making new friends, gets autistic adults into the workplace and it also campaigns for a better world for autistic people. If you donate for this charity it means that more autistic people, their parents and families can lead the lives they choose. YOU are helping to make sure that more autistic people are understood, supported and appreciated. If you’re autistic or have someone on the autism spectrum in your family, everyday life can be a real challenge. But sometimes it’s the small changes which can help. You will always be listened too and cared for by the National Autistic society.

This is a charity that is very personal to me. Growing up with a sibling who has autism i fully understand the daily struggles that a child or adult with autism goes through on a daily basis. They see the world completely different to how you or i do. One of the many reasons that i am running for this charity is to raise more awareness so that there is continuous support out there for families, friends, or for their partners. Autism never just affects the person who lives with it, it affects the people who are close to them too. A common misunderstanding is people with autism or asperger syndrome may sometimes appear to behave unusually. There will generally be a reason for this: it can be an attempt to communicate, or a way of coping with a particular situation. They thrive on being in a familiar environment with routine and structure.

My brother is the most caring, clever, funny, loving brother i could ever ask for and him being autistic will never change my love for him. Being autistic doesn't mean you cant strive to do what ever you want to do to or become, as long as you have the support behind you.

Thank you for reading my story, please donate for me to do the GNR for this amazing charity! x
