Story
I have been volunteering for SSF for just over a month now and have just recently decided to take part in the half marathon on Sunday to raise some money for the charity.
SSF is a charity which helps change the lives of disadvantaged youngsters through sport. They deliver "Sport for Change" programmes to over 12,000 young people each year and use the power of sport to inspire young people to make positive lifestyle choices. With a particular focus on at-risk communities, SSF initiatives are designed to encourage physical and mental wellbeing, integration and self-efficacy. It is a well-proven fact that physical activity has a positive impact on mental wellbeing, which can only be a good thing considering the stigma surrounding mental health. SSF is committed to playing their part in ensuring every young person in Scotland has the information and advice they need to fulfill their potential.
Personally speaking, I am in awe of what they do. They are a fantastic team to be involved with and I am delighted to be able to play a small part in helping them achieve their goals. As I said previously, I only recently decided to run the half marathon, so I have literally crammed in the training and hopefully with your support will manage it on the day! Together we can make a real and lasting difference to the lives of Scotland's most vulnerable young people.
