Fundraising for HART
Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In this 100th year of women winning the vote, and with another four
anniversaries during 2018 that lend themselves to celebration by ladies
bands including the 60th anniversary of the first lady peer entering the House of Lords, I would like to celebrate the work of our own ringing Baroness Caroline Cox who is the founder and president of the Humanitarian Aid Relief Trust (HART).
During February, I rang in ten ladies QPs with 38 other ladies to celebrate the centenary on 6th February of some ladies getting the right to vote in the UK. I have also rung in ladies band QPAs to celebrate the achievements of women in the RAF, on the occasion of the centenary of its formation, and the unveiling of the statue of Millicent Garrett Fawcett in Pariament Square, the first statue of a woman there.
I'd like to try and raise money
for Shan Women’s Action Network (SWAN), which is a Community Based Organisation in Burma supported by HART coordinating a number of programmes relating to health, education and women’s empowerment. HART is the main donor for SWAN’s Health Programme, which aims to reduce maternal, infant and child mortality rates in rural
areas of Shan State and amongst displaced populations in Thailand.
