Story

The Book

Can't see the Wood for the Trees is now out, and there's a book launch taking place in four Fife landscapes on 29th September. See here for more http://alisonsmithlandscapingyourlife.blogspot.com/

There's a raffle on the day with all proceeds going to the RNLI, with a winning prize of a 1 hour coaching session with me in Burntisland, Fife or via Skype or phone.

Anyone wishing to remotely take part in the raffle please leave a donation here, £1 per ticket. Anyone donating after 27th September will be put into the raffle (ie any donations made for the swim and prior to the raffle won't skew the results - sorry Mum/Dad).

Chapters in the book include:

  • Missed the tide
  • Up a creek without a paddle
  • Head in the sand
  • Like a fish out of water
  • Going around in circles
  • Treading water, or
  • Going with the flow (headed for the ocean)

Which are all predicaments that I help people to get out of using the #LandscapingYourLife process I've used for the last 20 years.

The Swim

Who knew I would love open water swimming so much - who knew I could happily jump out of my bed at 0730 on a November morning with frost on the ground to swim in a 8 degree waters at sunrise!

It's been a revelation.

Most swims are accompanied by "How beautiful" "This is gorgeous" as I swim breaststroke admiring the sun glinting on the sea, the blue cloudless sky, or swim through clear waters (yes even here in Scotland).

On Saturday 22nd Sept I took part in the annual Forth Swim. I didn't win any prizes, and 20% of the way across realised the conditions were getting the better of me and got a boat to the finish line.

Many of you asked if I was doing the swim for charity and who better than the RNLI. A charity I'd also like to support during my book launch. Which is why I set up this JustGiving page.

Thanks for donating to a wonderful charity.
