Story

Hello everyone, thank you for taking the time to read my page.
Call me crazy if you like but I’ve decided to do the “Ride London 100” Since starting cycling a few months ago and enjoying it, I thought I’d give it a go. Having been closely affected by cancer I wanted to raise some money for this great cause.

Here’s why I’m doing it:

On July 14th 1996 our little boy at the time, Jack was diagnosed with Non Hodgkin’s lymphoma. At the tender age of 2 years and 5 months he started his fight against this awful disease!! After 8 months of brutal chemotherapy, we were told he was in remission and home in time for his little brother, Charlie being born.We then had  another blow in 2002, Darren’s mum was diagnosed with stomach cancer. She battled this disease for two years but sadly she lost her battle in October 2005. This was done with great dignity with the help of her beloved family & Macmillan nurses. In February 2017 my mum was diagnosed lung cancer. She underwent chemotherapy and surgery and we thought they had got it all but sadly last November we were told it had spread to her other lung. My mum was then told there was a new treatment out and they wanted her to try it, this being Immunotherapy. Thankfully this is keeping it stable and even shrinking the tumours and enabling mum to lead as normal life as possible. Finally one of my best friends, Jayne has been diagnosed with breast cancer.  She is recovering from her operation to remove the tumour, before undergoing chemotherapy and radiotherapy. She’s got a long way to go, but hopefully she will be joining myself and Jacks girlfriend, Alice to complete the 100 miles.

I know I’ve got some tough training ahead but I’m hoping with your help I can reach my target of raising £850 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
