We support people experiencing homelessness to make positive changes in their lives.

Story

On Friday 4th November, a number of us at Andersen James and AFC Didsbury will be embracing the cold, wet, windy streets of Manchester as part of the #mcrsleepout. The reason will be to spread awareness and help bring about positive change in the lives of people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, and to help them plan for and realise a better future.

After a visit to The Booth Centre recently, we were blown away with what they do. As soon as we walked through the door, we knew they were a fantastic charity with whom we want to partner and to help in any way we could. One of their managers, Amy, took us around the building where we witnessed a group learning to sew, lessons in reading and writing, and a beautiful award winning garden that was bursting with colourful flowers, fruit and veg cared for by the visitors. The walls are strewn with artwork created by the visitors and of pictures of the annual production they put together.

The facts:

- Over the last 20 years, The Booth Centre have helped over 2,000 people move off the streets and find new homes.

- In the last 10 years, they have helped over 400 people get into work.

This really is a fantastic place that we at Andersen James and AFC Didsbury, and our friends and relatives, are passionate about helping. It is clear that raising money is pivotal to the running of this charity; this was not, however, the main motivation for the charity when they met us. What is more important to them is building sustainable long lasting relationships whereby their partners help in all sorts of ways.

The #mcrsleepout is an event managed by The Booth Centre, and it is designed to help raise awareness of the homeless in Manchester. The raising of money and sleeping out on the streets is part of bringing awareness to the issue. We are enthusiastic about doing the best we can for this Charity. so please dig deep as even the smallest of donation can help to bring about positive change.
