Story

In April 2016 I took part in my first ever Marathon to raise money for Myeloma UK as my brother Jason had been fighting Myeloma for 10 years. Jason was not well at the time of the Marathon, however he made the trip to London and cheered me over the finish line. This was to be the last time my brother and I would stand shoulder to shoulder, Jason lost his battle in July just 11 weeks later.

So, this year I have decided to run in 3 major London races, starting with the London Winter 10K on February 5th, followed by the North London Half Marathon on March 12th and finally the London Marathon on April 23rd. My hope this year is to be able to raise money for a charity that would make Jason proud of me. Jason's life was dedicated to his career as a pediatric nurse, he worked in a number of the major London hospitals before moving to Belfast where he continued his nursing career.

Around the time of Jason's passing, I learnt of a good friends devastating news that his 6 year old daughter had been diagnosed with Leukaemia. This little girl is called Amelia Winsbury and the story of her fight over the last 6 months is nothing short of inspirational. In fact, the way in which Amelia's entire family has dealt with this truly awful situation is amazing. However, the Winsbury's are one of many families going through the same situation and it is thanks to a charity called CLIC Sargent, that families of children with cancer get the support they need.

So this year I run these events for children with cancer in memory of a man that spent his adult life caring for sick children, my amazing brother, Jason. I appreciate that many people sponsored me last year and that you might not be in a position to donate this year. I will put in all the hard work, 400+ miles of training runs in the cold wet and dark. I will endure the pain of my not so young legs telling me to stop and finding the strength to get to the finish line. All I ask of you is to support me with any donations you are able to give.
