I am aiming to raise £10,000 for Midlands Air Ambulance and need your support.

Many of our own lifestyles, activities, hobbies and occupations have led us to have known someone to have benefited directly from this service that is funded entirely by charitable donations.

There are 3 Midland Air Ambulances, based in Cosford, Strensham, and Tattenhill, covering Worcestershire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and the West Midlands. Each lift costs £2,500.

As a keen runner at school I watched the London Marathon and always quite fancied giving it a go. At that point I was too young, now I am much older. Nothing hurt then, everything hurts now! However, an interim period of 35 years does take its toll. 

Having done no research into marathon running I announced to a group of friends one evening that I was going to do a marathon.

The next day I googled “running a marathon” and subsequently purchased some trainers, tried running and came back after about 50 yards in agony. So up to Decathlon for a running machine, the family commenting that I would never use it, however, I ran on it almost daily for around four months. Since Christmas I have been training out and about on the roads. 

The Chester Marathon is my goal on 6th October 2019, I have now reached the milestone of 50. I have now trained for 13 months, with the 12 weeks prior to the race alcohol free. I think you will agree I have drawn the short straw!
