Myself and 4 of my good friends will be participating in the Kidney Research UK London Bridges Walk on Sunday 2nd July. I will make a personal donation to this charity because this year i want to turn my fundraising attention once more to a more local cause - The Renal Unit & Ward 4 (Renal Ward) of James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.

We had so much fun doing this last year we've decided to do our best to make it an annual thing to add a social element to our fundraising. We have pooled resources and created a team this year (ain't technology grand) - please take the time to check out our individual pages - they are a grand old bunch.

The History :-

After a year of being stable because of the fantastic care provided to me by the Renal Team at James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough I had to start dialysis via a neck line. Whilst I was going through this I also started life on the transplant list.

I was lucky to receive the gift of life in August 2013 after only a year on Haemodialysis. Again i'm very lucky to have had such an amazing team of people look after me at the Freeman Hospital's Institute of Transplantation in Newcastle (My future fundraising target !).

I'm now able to do all the things that I had previously taken for granted. From the simple things such as drinking coffee to... well, anything (within reason !)
