Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

For the second time we are raising money  for Sparks, to help try and improve in some small way the lives of children at the beginning of their undoubtedly difficult journey on this planet.

This time its a team effort.  On the Sunday 30th July, we will be taking part in the Prudential Ride London-Surrey 100. Mike O'Mahony, Steve Hawkins and Dave Stewart are aiming to complete the 100 miles in under 6 hours.

Starting at the Queen Elizabeth II Olympic Park, the 100-mile route follows the Olympic circuit all the way to Surrey, where we will take on Leith Hill and the iconic Box Hill climbs before heading back to London for the finish, in front of thousands of cheering spectators along The Mall.

Since 1991 Sparks has been playing a vital role in improving the health and quality of life for children in the UK and worldwide by funding high quality cutting edge medical research.

Between 2015 and 2020, dependent on available funds, Sparks aims to build capacity in children’s health research and support the researchers of the future by offering project and innovation grants, PhD studentships, clinical research training fellowships and programme grants.

Additionally, Sparks continue to support research into a broad range of medical conditions affecting children’s health including pregnancy and birth, first months of life, as well as infancy and early childhood.

Please dig deep, and help make all the training and pain associated with it worthwhile.
