Story

Depression is one of the hardest obstacles I have had to take on in my life.im not one to go into great details  but 2 years ago almost to the day I was ready and willing to kill my self as I couldn't take the pain no more. Selfish as that might sound to most of you I had nothing to live for. I shut myself away from the world as I ...found it easier to try and cope on my own(as I discovered this was the wrong way ) so I went and sought medical help and was diagnosed with severe depression and anxiety issues and was prescribed medication to try and bring me back to some state of normality.it has taken a long time to get to where I am in life now and I'm still not fully back to myself, but I found solace amongst the great outdoors and the mountainous areas of our beautiful country fortunately which has massively helped my recovery. still though there are days when I just want to shut off from the world but with the people I know have kept me from doin this. I cant say thank you enough to you and you know who you are. Depression is in amongst us all and it can take only the smallest of hurdles to sink us to the bottom. I guarantee that each and everyone of you that I know, knows someone who is suffering in silence so I ask you all just to keep that extra eye on everyone, talking about situations do help and could well have stopped me from sinking so low back in 2015. As I'm about to hit the ripe old age of 40 I look back on my life, and I'm truly grateful that I am still here and that I chose not to end my life. the road has been long but slowly I will climb that ladder and maybe one day ill be back to the cheeky happy go lucky lad i once was.

As I said previously I have found comfort, peace and solace within the  mountains of the UK I want to do something good and give something back this year and raise money by undertaking this challenge, the great outdoors is the best form of anti depressant.

I am a keen walker/climber and I've spent many a day trekking around the munro's in Fort William. I have set my self the challenge of reaching the summit of Ben Nevis every day throughout the month of October 2017,  and hope you guys will help me raise some money for the guys and gals of the mountain rescue team in Lochaber.

This may seem like an easy thing to do for a keen walker but my intention is to try and take as many different routes up Ben Nevis possible within that month so I'm not just plodding up the same path. Anybody who would like to take part and join me on one or more days your more than welcome just drop me a message on fb. The weather will have an impact but I will battle on regardless

I now want add a slightly smaller bit to this challenge. starting the 1st January 2018 I will set off on a 6 day challenge involving climbing 12 4000ft plus mountains, a 72 mile bike ride and 5 wild overnight camps in the middle of Winter.

Mountain Rescue teams throughout the whole of Britain are made up of volunteers who are willing to risk their own lives 24 hours a day 365 days a year no matter the weather,  in order to help others who need help, wether this be walkers/climbers, skiers ,kayakers ,missing persons the lists go on...as walkers on this page you just never know when you may need to call them

My appeal to you the good public who enjoy the great outdoors where ever you are based is to try and help me raise £2500 for Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team, one of the busiest in the UK so they can purchase rescue  equipment, clothing to battle the elements  needed or even treat themselves to a xmas meal cos they deserve it, for risking their lives should we have to call on them.

I have raised the target as I've seen the team in action on the hillside now. I'm now on day 19 of my challenge and last week, whilst try in to help a family myself we had to call on the mountain rescue team to assist the elderly member of the family. How quick and professional they were but yet so friendly and don't look down on anyone in any scenario.

So please please  please dig deep  lets try get that £2500. Every penny will help.

Many Thanks
