Dear friends,
It gives me great pleasure to let you know that I survived the London marathon, clocking a total time of 4 hours 16 minutes and 27 seconds (six minutes more than I had planned -but then timekeeping has never quite been my specialty).
Out of a field of some 35,000 runners I came in at number 13,565; I was 11,118th in the men's category, and number 2,046 among my age group.
I ran the first 10k in: 0:56:59...
I reached 20k in: 1:53:29...
I made it to the half-way mark in: 1:59:51...
Making it to 30k took me: 2:54:46...
Staggering to the 40k marker took me: 4:02:12...
The route was spectacular, the weather was glorious, and the thousands of people lining the roads and cheering us all on made it easier to endure the pain that kicks in around mile 20.
Many thanks to you all for supporting me in this enterprise. With your help I was not only able to reach the finish line but, more crucially, to raise over £2,100 for TASK Brasil. This money will go a long way towards improving the lives of children and teenagers living on the streets of Rio de Janeiro.
Thank you!
Obrigado!
¡Gracias!
Ángel

Dear friends, amigos queridos,
It's been a long Winter... but April 17th is just around the corner!
After running approximately 900 kilometres over the past six months (mostly in the dark, through rain, sleet, snow and other typical forms of British weather) I will soon be attempting the London marathon in support of TASK Brasil, a UK registered charity established in 1992 to improve the lives of children and pregnant teenage girls living on the streets of Brazil. You can find out more about their work by visiting: http://www.taskbrasil.org.uk/
You can help me to help TASK Brasil by sponsoring my marathon run through this site. The process is simple, quick and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Task Brasil will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Feel free to give whatever you can. Every little bit will spur me on towards the finish line...
Many thanks for your support.
Ángel
