Today I'm making a final request for your help, and it is for a cause that is close to my heart, St John's Hospice in St John's Wood. The hospice supports around 3,000 people every year facing their last days of a terminal illness. One of those people was my lovely dad, who I miss every day. My dad's illness was cruel, but the kindness and personal attention that they were able to give to him and our family made an unbearable situation just a little easier, and I can't overstate how important that was. Now, with an overstretched NHS and a cut back social service, it seems to me that more and more weight will inevitably fall on the shoulders of
hospices. And it makes me incredibly sad to think that anyone would have to face a terminal illness without the specialist care that they offer.
