We provide support, services and advice to help autistic people and their families

Story

As some of you know, in April 2012, I trekked to Mt. Everest Base Camp to raise money for the National Autistic Society, a charity very close to my heart. I was touched by how many of you supported me.

The National Autistic Society is a charity that helps autistic people, their parents and families lead the lives they choose. My family has benefitted tremendously from our friendship with the NAS as we bring up our four lovely children, the youngest two who are on the autistic spectrum. There are many other families who are much less fortunate than us and without funding the NAS cannot offer them the support they deserve.

Every few years I take time out from work to trek somewhere high in the world and raise money for charity. The physical and mental demands of these treks brings home the reality of how tough life can be for those in need. So notwithstanding the precarious flight to Lukla airstrip, lack of oxygen (50% of sea level at 5,500m), freezing cold, vertigo on wobbly suspension bridges, dodgy loos, temperamental yaks, pounding headaches, racing heart, altitude sickness and recent earthquakes, I am returning to Nepal in May 2017 to trek through the Himalayas to Everest Base Camp again. Having climbed Kilimanjaro in 2015, I am hoping that this trip will give me further high altitude experience in preparation for a charity climb of Aconcagua (6,961m), the highest mountain outside Asia, in the coming years.

Your generous donations for my previous trips have always helped me beat my targets. This year I would love to raise £29,029, an amount equal to the height of Everest in feet, for the National Autistic Society. I know it is a very tall order with only 4 weeks to go...but with your continued support, I am confident we can get there and make a real difference.

Thank you!

Anurag

p.s. My trip is of course self-funded so all donations are only for the benefit of the NAS.
