Thanks to your generosity we have taken our beautiful 5 year old son to America for life-changing surgery.

Asher has cerebral palsy and was never going to walk but we would not accept a bleak future without giving everything we could to help him.

We discovered the incredible Dr T S Park and his spinal cord surgery called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) and in April 2016 we trusted him and his incredible team to help our son and perform a series of operations to release the tightness in Asher’s legs, which were caused by over-active stimulation from his injured brain.

Before the trip to America, he could stumble along with a walker with close supervision. 

And now, just 10 and a half months after surgery he is able to stand on his own two feet for a count of ten. Today, for the first time, our son stood up from his chair and walked three steps towards me for a cuddle.

Now he joins a fortnightly ‘frame football’ game at a local club, thanks to Albion in the Community. We can join him for a walk in the park with his walker. This too is a first.

Asher has always loved music, and now, with support, he has two dance moves; the bounce and the hip wiggle.

As we had hoped, his speech has improved, his balance is so much better, he can sit unaided on a school chair, and on the floor; he is clearly in less pain, and is making steps towards potty training.

Virtually none of the vital post-operative therapy is available on the NHS and so we have raised our fundraising target due to the ongoing costs of physiotherapy.

We are deeply grateful for each and every contribution to our campaign to help our son.
