Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
With a big summer of cricket upon us we have decided to embark on a Cycle Challenge like no other. We are initially aiming to raise £10,000 but hope to raise even more than that! All money raised will go towards much needed work at the Cricket Club & also to the Lord's Taverners.
The ride will take place over 4 days, starting from Headingley on Monday 9th September and finishing at the Oval on Thursday 12th September (day 1 of the Ashes test)
The Stages have been fine tuned and will be as follows: -
Stage 1 – Headingly/Old Trafford/Bucklow Hill - 69 miles/3,899ft of climbing)
Stage 2 – Bucklow Hill to Kingswinford - 81 miles/2,645ft of climbing
Stage 3 – Kingswinford to Enstone via Edgbaston - 71 miles/3,272ft of climbing
Stage 4 – Enstone to The Oval via Lords - 81 miles/2,367ft of climbing
For a total of 302 miles and 12,183ft of climbing!
We are having three stopover nights, one in Leeds prior to the start, one south of Manchester and one in Kingswinford. Third night will be at home! Riders and support are paying for their own accommodation as part of their donation to the fundraising.
Due to injury and illness there will now only be two riders, Steve Gainsley and Danny Murphy and we will be supported along the route by a support vehicle driven (and paid for) by Roger Wickson and bike mechanic Peter Murphy. The van will jump along the routes to keep us topped up with food/drink and to carry spares.
We would be very grateful for any donations you could give, also if you qualify for gift aid please tick the box to add it to your donation :)
