Story
Matt and Ashley are co-chairs for this year's fundraiser for the Cancer Patient Support Program (CPSP) at the Comprehensive Cancer Center at Wake Forest Baptist Health. Due to the global pandemic, the annual fundraiser event, Winterlark, was transformed to a peer-to-peer fundraising campaign.
Winterlark provides 50% of the operating budget for the CPSP. This year more than ever, we need your support. The CPSP is at the heart of our comprehensive cancer center, providing patients and caregivers with the type of whole patient support that we know is vital to those facing a cancer diagnosis. The CPSP offers group counseling, support groups, financial aid, and other healing and holistic therapies designed to ease the cancer journey for patients and their families. Without support, the Comprehensive Cancer Center would not be able offer these life-changing services and support.
Like so many, cancer has made a direct impact on our lives and our family. As most of you know, as a toddler Matt lost his dad, Stephen Gresh, to leukemia at the age of 34. Matt's mom, Kathleen Kohlrus, recently beat ovarian cancer. Ashley lost her grandfather, Carter Morell, to complications from prostate cancer. Ashley's grandmother, Esther Peake, is a two-time breast-cancer survivor. Ashley's sister, Alison Saleeby, a mother of three, beat breast cancer after being diagnosed at age 40.
We are asking you to give in honor or memory of our families and so many others impacted by cancer. Please join us in supporting the Cancer Patient Support Program (CPSP) at the Comprehensive Cancer Center at Wake Forest Baptist Health.
