Type 1 diabetes affects many people, with hundreds being diagnosed daily and a lot are children. I was 7 when i was diagnosed, Alfie was 5 and Amelia 3. Its tough. Daily struggles with lots of things effecting our bloods such as weather, illness, being excited, being sad and stress are just a few examples. Alfie and Amelia are taking part in a 2.5km fun run in Birkenhead Park on the Sunday 10th June 2018. If the last JDRF day in Croxteth Park is anything to go by then this day should be fantastic!  My hope is that in the future there will be a time when we can say we used to have type 1 diabetes. When my children can have something as simple as a packet of wotsits without having to fingerprick to check their blood levels are in range and deciding if they can eat  simple 9g carb snack. All money raised will be going towards the much needed funds of finding that cure so that maybe one day in the future we can use the words 'we USED to have type 1 diabetes' Thankyou for taling the time to read this, Lucy xx
