Story
Here is my good friend Rosie's story ....
As many of you know Anthony Nolan is a charity which is incredibly close to my heart, as well as my family and friends.
Due to this charity being so special to me, myself and friends have decided to raise awareness, funds and most importantly encourage people to sign up to possibly save a life.
Before I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic leukaemia I wasn't familiar with Anthony Nolan at all, but how little did I know that one day they would find my life saver.
Throughout my treatment I remained in remission, but after a regular bone marrow aspiration, doctors found that my blood was still 0.01% cancer cells, and my best option was a stem cell transplant, so the search for a donor began.
On the 25th of March 2014 a donor was found. To be ready to have a transplant, I would have to have extremely strong chemotherapy which made me incredibly unwell, so transplant was delayed for a few months to allow me to build up strength.
Once better and after having another week of strong chemotherapy, on the 22nd of October 2014 I received the best gift, my stem cell transplant. I'll never be able to thank my donor enough for what they done for me.
For Anthony Nolan to continue helping very ill people it's down to the generous support of individual donors and fundraisers who believe in their mission of saving and improving the lives of everyone who needs a stem cell transplant.
Please come along to our quiz night for a night of fundraising for this incredible charity.
