Hi everyone! My name's Aimee and I am 21 studying at Roehampton University. When I was 10 my hair started falling out, we soon discovered it was because of a disease called Alopecia Areata. There are many forms of Alopecia but this kind made patches of my hair fall out. I was very lucky as all my hair grew back, but it is definitely something that has stayed with me and I have never stopped thinking about. In particular, the people out there whose hair never grows back. I have also realised how much society has put stress on women having long, luscious hair- why is this the case? It's just hair!

So, I have decided to spend a year fundraising for Alopecia UK, a charity working to improve the lives of those affected by alopecia through aims of support, awareness, research and fundraising. 

I aim to do this predominantly through my show that myself, Katie Dighton and Micah Joseph have devised called 'BARE: With Me'. This show is all about the stereotypes of hair, along with my personal struggle with Alopecia. We performed at both Roehampton University in December 2018 and the Barnes Fringe Festival in 2019. The shows were a great success!

I will also be hosting many bake sales along the way and I am also looking into a skydive!

I have now grown my hair long enough to cut it off and donate it to the 'Little Princess Trust', so it can be made into a wig for someone who really needs it. Please donate and sponsor me to cut my hair off! Donations will go to Alopecia Uk and it's great that I can support two charities! I will be cutting my hair on Friday 26th July!!!
