I am trying to raise awareness of Motor Neurone Disease (MND) and also funds for the amazing Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA)

My Dad was diagnosed with MND in December 2013. Since it has been a tough journey for all involved. Although awful, Dads diagnosis has made me aware of how lucky and fortunate I am to have such an amazing family and friends. 

It has also made me want to do something to help. The MNDA is the only charity in Wales and England that exists to support the patients and families of those with the disease. I hope that by running the marathon and raising money I can give a little bit back, and therefore the charity can continue its amazing work.

For those of you who don't know, Motor Neurone disease is a progressive disease that attacks the motor neurones, or nerves, in the brain and spinal cord. This means that messages gradually stop reaching muscles which in turn leads to weakness and wasting. This results in difficulty with movement, talking, eating, drinking and breathing. Dad now needs full time care, there is currently no cure for Motor Neurone disease.
