Story
Thank you for visiting my Justgiving page and thank you in advance if you go on to donate some money to this fantastic charity. I appreciate I have set this up rather last minute with less than two months to go (eeekkk!) and after Christmas but even if you can only spare a very small donation I would be very grateful.
So in February I am flying to Sevilla with my support crew (Phil) in order to attempt my first full marathon. After being a keen runner for many years, completing five half marathons I have finally decided to take the jump and sign up for a full marathon. With my training well under way and having completed almost 800 miles this year I am ready and raring to go but this by no means will be easy!
Most of you know that just over 18 months ago I made the move from St George's Hospital to South West London a mental health trust based in Tooting covering all the south west London boroughs. This decision was one of the best I have ever made and despite being a demanding and often emotionally draining job I have loved every minute of it. It is because of this job that I have decided to raise money for Mind.
Mental health affects 1 in 4 people and even with a growing spotlight from the media, government and celebrities it is still not well understood and like most NHS services is extremely underfunded. Mind is a fantastic charity which supports not only those with mental health problems but also their families and carers with the amazing work they do every day. I have chosen Richmond Mind specifically as the money will go towards services and support for individuals many of whom I may know through my work at the hospital.
